I’m Certified in Nutrition

I am proud to say I have graduated from The Institute of Integrative Nutrition in NYC. I am now a Certified Holistic Health Coach. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time as I am incredibly passionate about Health and Wellness. Hippocrates said “Let food be thy medicine.” I truly believe this to be true. I have spent more than a decade as a Health Reporter. I have interviewed hundreds of doctors, trainers, dieticians, and wellness practitioners. I have covered countless stories on disease, weight loss, alternative medicine, and workout routines. One common factor is “we are what we eat.” I am excited about my new degree and I know the education I have received will only make me an even better journalist as I continue to cover health related stories that are so important to our well being. She’s kicking Cancer’s Ass

It’s rare that a book makes me laugh, cry, get inspired and empowered. But “A Survivors Guide To Kicking Cancer’s Ass” by Dena Mendes delivers it’s title and more. I’ve known Dena for several years. I call her my “Health Guru” because she has a natural gift to heal. She’s improved my quality of life tremendously but she is also an incredible teacher.

When you read her book , you will be shocked that she is still alive. How could anyone endure what she has. But through a positive spirit, natural remedies, and a healthy diet I have seen her regain her own health and strength after the medical treatments have practically shut her down. And while she has battled this deadly disease over and over again, she stays on course to her mission to help others and direct them to a healthy lifestyle. I urge you to read this book and learn more on her website www.denashealthyu.com

One on One with Dr. Oz

He is the man behind the curtain who lights up the stage. I got a back stage pass to follow Dr. Mehmet Oz as he prepares for his new season. A new set and tapings twice a day three days a week at his studio at the NBC Towers in NYC. “I’m excited, it’s important to talk to people about what’s going on in their lives,” says Oz.
It’s organized chaos getting the show ready as the good Doctor rehearses in his scrubs. Today’s big segment is 750 pound Suzanne Enman . Her goal to be the fattest woman in the world. “I hope her story awakens others to the reality they shouldn’t tolerate obesity in life,” says Oz.
He also taped some fun segments, like Beauty and the Bees, yes live bees as he explained how their poison is used to make great face scrubs and masks. He cooked with Chef Big Daddy and did his Daily Dose game. When I sat down with America’s favorite Doctor he told me this season he will offer a million dollars to someone. He will follow folks in their everyday life and those who make the greatest changes in weight loss and other categories have at a shot at winning. The down to earth Oz also tells me the key to weight loss. 3 things. Avoid white foods, white sugar, white bread, white starches and more. Exercise and Have good self esteem. He says if you don’t value yourself you won’t lose weight. His top 3 vitamins. Vitamin D, C, and Omega 3’s. His biggest indulgence, dark chocolate covered nuts. Plus he’s a weekend warrior who loves to shoot hoops. My kind of guy. It should be a good season.
